Website accessibility
We are a small operation for this furnished holiday let – yet we have as far as the limitations of the tools we have and costs sought to design this site with all types of user in mind. It will not be perfect and it will not reflect the significant investment that major global corporations or government can invest.
In designing and publishing the site we did keep in mind these principles:
1. Perceivable
Displaying information and user interface components presentable to users in ways they can perceive. We have also sought to optimise the site for mobile users.
2. Operable
User interface components and navigation are operable. Not all aspects can be accessed solely via the keyboard.
3. Understandable
Information and the operation of user interface must be understandable. This includes, for example, a requirement to identify the primary language of the page.
4. Robust
Content must be robust enough that it can be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies. This will be patchy on our website.
We have also sought to make sure that colour, text/image contrast and layout has considered those with low vision.
Use of clear headings and structure in HTML markup to help those with cognitive disabilities or using user agents like screen readers.
It will not be perfect but we have at least thought through these items.
Our website provider also has these compliance approaches:

Edwardstowe-East is a very old property that is Grade 2 listed. It retains many of the original features and layout. Much of this we have not nor will be able to change.
We have approached this review on the basis of what is there and what will help a user make an informed decision of if booking a short-say would be suitable for them.
This has been carried out by room or area:
The driveway and patio – are all level. The driveway has gravel that will make wheel chair use difficult. The patio is large level paving slabs.
Front door to hallway – the front door has a slip lip and then small step down to the hall’s floor level. The door is near standard width. The hall through to the kitchen are all level floored. The hall also led to the stairs that are the only access to the first floor. The floor is cushion ‘Lino’ wood effect.
Kitchen – layout in an L-shape. Standard height units and sink.
Lounge – there is a step down from the hall to reach the lounge. The doorway is near standard width. The lounge floor is level and wooden. There is a step up to the rear patio through the double casement doors – these are slightly wider than all the other doors.
Stairs – are wooden, carpet covered, and have a slight height restriction to begin with – there is handrail almost to the top. They have a 90deg turn after about the 5th step.
The upper-landing is carpeted and level. It lead to the two bedrooms and bathroom/shower room.
The smaller second bedroom is a level walk to the bathroom. It is carpeted and the access is good from the doorway – narrower on the window side. The bed is standard height.
The larger main bedroom has two steps down to its floor level from the upper landing. There is a good amount of space all the way round the be, less at the head which is against the wall. The bed is standard height.
