Equipped with oven, electric hob, microwave, washing machine, pots, pans, utensils, kettle, toaster, plates, cutlery, large selection of glasses, knives, linen…pretty well all you need for a short stay if self-catering. The gas boiler that services the central heating and hot water is here - along with all the fire and carbon monoxide alarms you would expect for your safety.
Guests often tell us how they are surprised as to how we seem to have thought of everything that they might need – down to that all important cork screw and bottle opener… 😉
Extendable table and four chairs.
The first floor bathroom – shower room – has toilet, sink, electric shower and heated towel rail.
Being an old building the shower is floor to ceiling and not suitable if you want to party in it, as the ceiling is just under 7ft high, so you cannot wildly wave your arms above your head while showing off your best disco moves! 😉
The ancient oak beamed lounge has the large inglenook housing the highly efficient wood burner in it has sofa and two comfy chairs – tables and wall mounted TV. Main cottage internet router - independent to main house. It is has a polished oak wood floor and double casement doors giving access to the rear patio.
In winter depending on the temperature outside you may need to get the burner going as these older buildings can lose some heat, even with the central heating going. We supply a starter pack of logs, fire lighters and kindling to get you going. Full instructions for using the burner are there and as we say to all guests who may not be familiar with a wood-burner ‘less is more’ - so adjusting the air inlet will quickly heat up the room to a super warm temperature. When operated properly the burner will operate at the equivalent of 4 electric fires on double heat settings – warm, warm, cosy warm… 😉
We also supply some blankets, as we all feel the cold differently.
The large main bedroom is 2 steps down from the upper landing, it has ample hanging and drawer space, mirror, bedside tables with lights and for winter double sided thermostatic double under blankets. All linen is supplied as our towels - bath and hand. The room is double aspect - rear garden and front.
There is a second upper floor inglenook here as well that is not used.
(The property for interest has 11 chimneys in total – as when originally used many rooms were sub-divided. This room is the largest across all the buildings.)
The bed is kingsize, with duvet.
The second double bedroom – with double bed has a double wardrobe and chest of drawers, mirror, along with bedside table and lamp. This room is single aspect – with a view out over the enclosed courtyard and the guest parking space.
Again for winter there is a heated electric under blanket.
Many guests if travelling singly prefer this snug room which is a level walk to the bathroom.
The room has a closed off delicately decorated fireplace.
The generous hall serves the lounge, stairs and kitchen/diner. It has understairs storage an internet repeater and space for shoes/boots.
